Treatment Information
Overview
These Pyrocalm tablets contain omeprazole, a type of medicine called a proton pump inhibitor. Proton pump inhibitors work by reducing the amount of acid your stomach produces. Too much stomach acid can cause reflux.
Reflux happens when stomach acid flows back up into the throat. This can make the throat and gullet feel painfully inflamed and sore. It may lead to a burning pain in the chest rising up to the throat, known as heartburn. One can also get an acidic or sour taste in the mouth.
The tablets are used to treat reflux symptoms like heartburn and acid regurgitation in adults for short periods of time. It may take 2-3 days of tablets once a day to see improvement. Usually, the full effect happens after a few doses.
