Rennie Liquid Heartburn Relief MINT Flavour uses a combination of two antacids and an alginate. The antacids are calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate. They work in two ways to relieve symptoms. First, they lower the effect of excess stomach acid. This reduces pain and discomfort from heartburn. Second, they form a protective barrier on top of the stomach food. This barrier stops stomach acid from escaping into the oesophagus.
Gastroesophageal reflux is when stomach food returns back up into the esophagus. It causes acid regurgitation, heartburn, and indigestion. These symptoms often happen after eating meals or during pregnancy.
Rennie is formulated for quick relief of these symptoms. It forms a protective barrier around the stomach. This barrier aims to prevent symptoms from getting worse. Or even prevent symptoms from happening in the first place.

Adults and children over 12 years old should take 10–20 ml (two to four 5 ml spoonfuls) after meals and at bedtime. They can take it up to four times per day.

Children between 6 and 12 years old should take 5–10 ml (one to two 5 ml spoonfuls) after meals and at bedtime. They can take it up to four times per day.

If a dose is missed, there is no need to take a double dose next time. Just continue taking it as before.

Rennie Heartburn Liquid is not recommended for children under 6 years old.

It is safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women to take.

Rarely, an allergic reaction could occur with symptoms like a skin rash, itching, trouble breathing, dizziness, or a swollen face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop taking the liquid right away if any side effects appear and see a doctor.

Other possible side effects include constipation, irritability, muscle twitching or cramps, indigestion returning after stopping the liquid, and high calcium levels in the blood.

Taking too much liquid may cause bloating, but it likely won't harm you. Still, check with a doctor or pharmacist if this happens.
