Everyone dreams of having a flawless face, but unfortunately, spots have a habit of appearing when we least want them too. They are a nuisance, appearing overnight before the Office Christmas party or your best friend’s wedding and take (what feels like) forever to go away.
Spots on your face can just be harmless spots sometimes if you leave them be, but they have the capability of evolving into horrible scarring, inflammation, enlarged pores, and, worst of all, embarrassment!
If you are tempted to pop it off, just STOP! That’s not the right thing to do. Don’t give in to the temptation and look to home remedies instead, these will wipe the spots completely without the worry of making them worse in the process.
Here are a few try-worthy and effective remedies that Click Pharmacy has shortlisted for you.
1. Honey and cinnamon
Honey is a universal solution to most of our health and skin problems. This amazing compound has a natural ability to act as an antibiotic to cleanse the skin surface, deep inside the pores and eliminate all dirt. All you have to do is mix 1/2 a teaspoon of cinnamon with a tablespoon of honey and dab on to dry skin.
Wash your hands, then use your fingers to rub in circular movements for about three minutes and rinse off with warm water.
2. Egg-white mask
Egg-whites are very effective in dealing with spots on your face. They tighten the pores and yank out clogged dirt. Simply take two eggs, separate the yolks, and apply the whites on your face forming a thin layer. Leave on for 2 minutes to dry, and then apply another layer. Allow the whites to stay on for 10 to 15 minutes until dried and smooth to touch. Rinse off with warm water.
3. Clay mask
Take a tablespoon of powdered clay, such as Indian Aztec Clay, and mix with apple cider vinegar to form a thick paste. Spread the mixture all over your face and leave for 10 to 15 minutes. Use warm water to wash off.
4. Oatmeal and yoghurt
Yoghurt has a cooling effect because of lactic acid present in it, while the oatmeal grain soothes the skin. A blend of both yoghurt and oatmeal can be combined to create a blackhead fixing mixture.
If the spots on your skin are blackheads, take three tablespoons of yoghurt, two tablespoons oats, and a few drops of lemon juice and olive oil. Mix well and dab onto the spots. Let it rest for about 10 minutes and wash with warm water.
5. Turmeric and mint juice
Your kitchen, believe it or not, has all the ingredients to clean the dirt from your pores on your skin! Boil mint tea and let it cool. Add two tablespoons of turmeric powder to form a mixture and apply to the skin on your face.
Leave for 10 minutes and then rinse off with warm water.
6. Spot creams
If the natural remedies don’t work or you’re too lazy to prepare the mixtures, try reliable spot creams available on the market. Make sure you consider your skin type before making your selection, and if you are uncertain, consult a dermatologist in store.
7. Lemon juice
Lemon is a good astringent and useful for skin as a toner to close pores. It has vitamin C that helps lighten dark spots on your face. Squeeze juice, and dilute with water (or if you have sensitive skin, rose water or honey) and pour into a spray bottle or small vaporiser spray to use on skin as needed. You can also soak cotton pads and rub it onto the affected area on your face. Let dry and wash off with plain water. Keep on applying for at least two weeks to remove dark spots on the skin.
8. Potatoes
Potatoes work wonders for your skin. They can effectively wipe off black spots or dark patches on your face. Naturally, potatoes have some bleaching properties that help diminish scars, spots, and blemishes. It is rich in starch that reduces pigmentation, and the enzymes in this amazing vegetable keep the skin healthy!
Just slice up a potato and put one slice on the spots directly. Leave for a few minutes and then wash off with warm water. You can even combine potatoes with turmeric, lemon, and/or honey to get the same desired results.
9. Turmeric
Turmeric, the bright yellow spice often used in curries, but now mixed in anything since it gained the reputation as a superfood. It's been touted for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and hailed as a natural defence against cancer and Alzheimer's disease. Turmeric, on its own, works as a popular skin-lightening ingredient that helps reduces the black spots on your skin. It repairs the damage caused by free radicals and deals with skin pigmentation and discolouration. According to Click Pharmacy, turmeric also removes sun spots and age spots.
Apply turmeric alone or combine with lemon, honey, and/or milk to get flawless skin.
10. Aloe Vera
With numerous properties for healing the skin, aloe vera is widely used in thousands of skin products. It is a great dark spot corrector and has healing properties that heal scars, blemishes and calms skin irratations.
According to the Journal of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Research in 2010, aloe vera gel clears out dark spots and skin blemishes. It will make the skin clearer than ever before.
Get fresh aloe vera (or in gel form from shops) and apply it on the dark patches and black spots. Massage the spots in a circular motion using your fingertips for a couple of minutes and leave for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse off and repeat the procedure twice every day for a few weeks to correct skin discolorations.
On the off chance the above-given remedies don’t help, don’t prode your skin to too much as experimentation can result in making the problems worse. Seeing a dermatologist is the best choice in this case.
