Treatment Information
Overview
What is Duofilm
Duofilm is a medication in the form of a liquid which is used on the skin to treat common skin and foot warts. The active ingredients in Duofilm are salicylic and lactic acid, which work tigether by drawing moisture into the skin and then dissolving the substance that causes skin cells to clump together in the formation of warts, corns, and calluses. After application, the warts, corns, and calluses will slowly peel off until they are entirely removed.
Directions
Directions of use
Duofilm should be applied once daily and only to the affected areas.
It should not be used on infants under 2 years of age.
For the best results, the procedure for applying Duofilm is as follows:
- Soak the wart/corn/callus in warm water for 5 minutes and then dry the area thoroughly.
- Rub the surface of the wart/corn/callus with a nail file, pumice stone, or coarse washcloth. Be careful not to cause any breaking in the skin or bleeding.
- Apply a thin layer of Duofilm with the applicator brush directly to the wart / corn / callus, being careful to avoid the healthy surrounding skin. You may apply some petroleum jelly around the affected area to avoid getting the medicine on it.
- Allow the solution to dry thoroughly. If the wart is large or on the foot, this can be covered with a plaster or dressing to help with the penetration of ingredients.
- The treatment should be continued for 12 weeks or until the wart / corn / callus is completely cleared from the skin and the normal ridgelines of the skin have been repaired.
If warts do not clear within 12 weeks, you should consult your doctor.
