Otex Ear Drops are used to remove wax build-up in the ears instead of using Q-tips or cotton buds to remove ear wax. The ear drops contain the active ingredient known as urea hydrogen peroxide, which is key in softening ear wax and removing it.
How do Otex Ear Drops work?
Otex Ear Drops contain urea hydrogen peroxide, ideal for softening ear wax. In order to do so, urea hydrogen peroxide functions by releasing oxygen into the ear, which helps break up the hardened ear wax. In addition to this, the ear drops also have some antiseptic properties.
Keep in mind that ear wax is a normal secretion of the ear and should not be removed unless it is necessary to do so. Ear wax is naturally produced and serves a purpose. It provides a protective layer in the ear as well as on the ear drum. However, an excessive amount of wax can be damaging. It can result in hearing difficulties and also be the cause of pain in the ear. In such cases, it is vital to remove the wax with the help of gentle ear drops.
How to Use Otex Ear Drops?
You should use Otex Ear Drops as directed by your GP. It is essential to follow the instructions as they may be the most beneficial for you. Also, make sure to read the patient information leaflet that comes with the drops.
- Tilt your head to the opposite side of the ear, and gently squeeze 4 to 5 drops of Otex Ear Drops into the ear.
- Make sure to leave the drops in for a few minutes.
- After a few minutes, wipe the excess drops with a piece of tissue or cloth.

What are the Side Effects of Otex Ear Drops?
Although the ear drops only remove wax build-up in the ears, there are a few side effects that you may experience when you use the drops. However, note that these are not that common. You may experience the following:
- Worsening of the excessive ear wax
- Extreme discomfort in the ears
- Sudden irritation or pain in the ears
- Sudden loss of hearing
