Fybogel Mebeverine Sachets contain two active ingredients, one is ispaghula husk, a natural fibre that relieves constipation, and the second is mebeverine which relieves abdominal cramps and pain. Fybogel maintains the mass in stools and makes it easier to pass and maintain bowel regularity.
It is gluten-free and contains no chemical components. Fybogel Mebeverine is also available in orange flavour and is used to treat IBS symptoms.
Adults and children over 12 years of age: One Fybogel Mebeverine sachet should be taken twice a day half an hour before meals. If needed an extra sachet can be taken in the middle of the day.
Granules from the sachet should be stirred into a glass of water (at least 150mls) and drunk instantly. Do not inhale the powder, as this can cause serious allergies to ispaghula to develop.
There should be an hour gap between taking Fybogel Mebeverine and other medication.
Do not take this solution just before going to bed.
Fybogel Mebeverine may take up to one day to start working. After two weeks, if there has been no improvement in your symptoms then stop using this medicine and seek advice from your doctor.
Caution before using Fybogel Sachets (Mebeverine):
- This medicine is not advisable for children below the age of 12.
Do not consume without consulting your doctor if:

Aged 40 years or older.

Have passed blood from the bowel.

Feeling sick or vomiting.

Have lost your appetite or have lost weight.
-
Looking pale and feeling tired.

Suffering from severe constipation.
-
Have a fever.
-
Pregnant.

Have abnormal vaginal bleeding or discharge.

Have difficulty or pain passing urine.
-
Have been prescribed diuretic medicine.

On a controlled potassium supplemented diet, be aware that each sachet contains 2.50 mmol of potassium and 2.56 mmol of sodium.
Consult your doctor if you have seen any new symptoms, or if your symptoms worsen, or if they do not improve after two weeks of treatment.
Side effects:
Most people experience no side effects while using the Fybogel solution.
Flatulence or bloating may be seen for the first few days after starting this medicine, but these effects should lessen as you continue treatment. If you have any other side effects not mentioned above after taking this product, consult your doctor.
It is important to drink plenty of fluids while using Fybogel Mebeverine sachets to prevent the Fybogel bulking and causing a bowel blockage.
Allergic reactions can develop by inhaling the powder when opening a sachet. These reactions include itching, nettle rash/hives, nose running, watery eyes, swollen lips and face, difficulty breathing, and rarely life-threatening anaphylaxis. If any of these symptoms appear, stop using Fybogel and consult your doctor immediately.
