Spasmonal side effects

Like all medicines, Spasmonal may cause side effects, though not everyone experiences them. Possible side effects include:

Common side effects:

• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Headaches
• Dry mouth

Serious side effects:

• Allergic reactions (rash, itching, or swelling of the face, lips, or throat)
• Difficulty breathing
• Yellowing of the skin or eyes (signs of liver issues)

If you experience severe side effects, stop taking Spasmonal and seek urgent medical help. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if side effects persist or worsen. Always read the patient information leaflet for full list of side effects.

Warnings

Do not take Spasmonal if:

• You are under 12 years old
• You are allergic to alverine citrate or any other ingredients in the capsules
• You have paralytic ileus (a condition where the bowel stops working)

Speak to your doctor before taking Spasmonal if:

• You are 40 years or older and experiencing new or changing symptoms
• You have passed blood in your stool or noticed black stools
• You have persistent nausea, vomiting, or digestive discomfort
• You have unexplained weight loss or loss of appetite
• You feel pale, excessively tired, or weak
• You suffer from severe constipation or irregular bowel movements
• You have a fever or signs of an infection
• You have recently travelled abroad and developed digestive issues
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding, as Spasmonal may not be suitable
• You have unexplained vaginal bleeding, abnormal discharge, or pelvic pain
• You experience pain or difficulty passing urine
• You have liver or kidney problems that may affect how the medicine works
