Overview
Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets are easily chewable, designed to provide fast relief from heartburn and indigestion, especially after meals. It works by forming a protective barrier over the stomach contents and prevent the stomach acid from coming up the oesophagus (food pipe). This medicine contains calcium carbonate, which helps to neutralize excess stomach acid for a soothing effect.

This medication is for oral consumption only.

Suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age.

Take 2-4 tablets a day after meals or at bedtime, or as directed by your doctor or physician.

Chew well before swallowing.

Not suitable for children under 12 years of age without a medical prescription.

You should avoid taking any oral medicines 2 hours before and after taking Gaviscon Chewable Tablets. This is because the medication may interfere with the way Gaviscon Chewable Tablets work and cause side effects.

Gaviscon Chewable Tablets are not suitable for children under the age of 12 years old. However in rare cases it has been prescribed to children under the age of 12 years old.

What if I forget to take my dose of Gaviscon Chewable Tablets?
If you forget to take Gaviscon Chewable Tablets, then you should take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. If it is almost time for your next dose then you should skip the dose you just missed and continue like normal. You should never take two doses at once even if you are making up for a missed dose.
Can I take painkillers while using Gaviscon Chewable Tablets?
Yes, it is safe to take painkillers such as paracetamol and ibuprofen while using Gaviscon Chewable Tablets.
Is there any medication I should avoid taking while using Gaviscon Chewable Tablets?
You should avoid taking the following medicines 2 hours before and after taking Gaviscon Chewable Tablets:
- Levothyroxine
- Estramustine
- Chloroquine
- Steroids
- Penicillamine
- Beta-blockers
- Iron tablets
- Antihistamines
- PPI
- A few antibiotics
- Medicines used for antipsychotic
Ingredients
Gaviscon peppermint tablets contain the following ingredients:
Active ingredients: Every tablet contains 250mg sodium alginate, 133.5mg sodium hydrogen carbonate and 80mg calcium carbonate.
Also contains: Mannitol (E421), macragol 20,000, copovidone, aspartame (E951), peppermint flavouring, magnesium sterate and acesulfame potassium.
Gaviscon Peppermint Chewable Tablets are sugar and gluten free.
