Overview
Daktarin Sugar-Free Oral Gel treats superficial fungal infections of the mouth and throat. Its active substance is miconazole, which belongs to a class of drugs called antifungal agents. It kills fungi by stopping their internal processes.
Directions
-
Put a small amount of gel on your fingertip or cotton bud.

Apply it to the affected part.
- Replace the cap properly.
Ages 4 months to 2 years
Apply one-fourth (quarter) of the measuring spoon 4 times a day after meals.
Ages 2 years and over (including adults)
Apply half of the measuring spoon 4 times a day after meals.
Storage

Store below 30°C.

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not use it after the expiration date printed on the pack.
Cautions

For oral use only.

Not suitable for infants under 4 months old.

Avoid giving it to infants over 4 months, who are premature, show slow growth and have swallowing difficulties.

Do not apply it to the back of the tongue and throat of a child. This medicine can be a choking hazard if applied to the back of the throat of a child.

Keep the infants and young children under supervision when this medicine is applied.

Use it after meals.

Do not use more than the recommended dose.

Do not swallow this medicine straight away. Keep the gel in contact with the affected area for as long as possible.

If you or your child accidentally swallow large amounts of this medication, immediately seek medical attention and take the medicine pack with you.

Keep it away from the eyes.
-
If this medicine gets into the eyes, rinse them with water thoroughly.

Do not use it if you or your child has wounds in the mouth or the mouth lining is severely damaged.

Do not use this medicine and dentures/false teeth at the same time.

Continue to use it for up to 7 days after all the symptoms have disappeared.
- Contact a doctor or pharmacist if the condition does not improve despite 2 weeks of use.
Do not use it if:

You are allergic to miconazole or any of the other ingredients.
-
You are taking warfarin (a blood-thinning medicine).
- You have liver problems.
Possible side effects
Daktarin may cause the following side effects in some individuals:

Allergic reactions

Feeling sick (nausea)

Vomiting

Mouth irritation, itching or discomfort

Dry mouth
- Expulsion of swallowed food up again to the mouth (regurgitation)

Active ingredients
Miconazole (20 mg): An antifungal agent which inhibits fungal enzymes.
Other ingredients
Potato starch (pregelatinised), ethanol, polysorbate 20, sodium saccharin, orange flavour (containing allergens: citral, citronellol, linalool, geraniol, d-limonene), cocoa flavour (containing allergens: benzyl alcohol, benzyl benzoate), glycerol and purified water.
