Treatment Information

Overview

Freederm Gel works well for mild to moderate acne which causes red spots, known as inflammatory acne. This type of acne often pops up on faces, backs, and chests, causing the skin to look irritated and sore. The key ingredient, nicotinamide from vitamin B3, reduces swelling, redness, and tenderness with its anti-inflammatory properties.

When applied to the skin, this clear, cooling gel visibly reduces inflamed, red blemishes without causing bacteria to become resistant. With regular use, you will notice improvements within a few weeks.

Directions

  • Wash the affected skin and surrounding area with warm water, then gently pat dry.    Avoid rubbing, since that could make it angrier.

  • If you have delicate skin, spot-test the gel first for 24 hours before using it more widely.

  • Smooth a thin layer of Freederm all over the spots, not just each individual zit, massaging it gently in.

  • Be careful not to get any in your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse well with water if any gets there by accident.

  • Wash your hands well after putting on the gel.

  • Apply the gel twice a day, even if results aren't quick. A noticeable change may take a few weeks.

  • If you forget a use, just apply it as soon as you remember and keep the routine.

  • Check with your doctor or pharmacist if nothing's changed after 12 weeks or if symptoms get worse.

Cautions

  • Do not use it if you are allergic to the main ingredient, vitamin B3, or any others listed.

  • Not for severe acne that needs a different treatment.

  • Check with your doctor, midwife, or pharmacist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Keep the gel below 25 °C out of children's reach.

  • Do not use them after the "use by" date on the tube and box.

  • Toss any leftovers after 2 months of opening.

  • Common ones include dry skin and mild irritation.

  • Rare but serious ones could be itching, redness, swelling, or burning.

  • If side effects are really bad or you think you are having an allergic reaction, stop use and contact your doctor, 111, or A&E right away.

  • Also, report any side effects to the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.

  • Do not flush leftover gel or chuck it in the trash.

  • Ask your pharmacist about the proper way to dispose of unused medicine.

  • If it gets into your eyes or mouth, rinse well with water and check with your doctor or pharmacist if irritation persists.

  • If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately.

  • Freederm is not known to interfere with or be interfered with by other medications, but let your doctor or pharmacist know what else you are taking.

  • Look at other options if Freederm is not suitable, like products with benzoyl peroxide (e.g., Acnecide) or gels combining it with clindamycin (e.g., Duac Gel).
