How does Treclin gel work?
Treclin Gel treats acne by combining two active ingredients, clindamycin and tretinoin, to target different causes of acne.
Clindamycin is an antibiotic that works by inhibiting the growth of Propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria that causes acne and inflammation, and preventing them from clogging pores.
Tretinoin is a form of Vitamin A that helps the skin renew itself faster. It removes dead skin cells, keeps hair follicles from getting blocked, and prevents clogged pores that cause acne.
These ingredients tackle acne's amnesia and cell-related factors to prevent breakouts and clear skin. Clindamycin and tretinoin work well on their own but are even more effective when used together.
How long does Treclin take to work?
It generally takes a few weeks for Treclin gel to show noticeable improvement in acne. However, it may take up to 12 weeks to see full results as the skin takes time to react to the treatment and heal.
To apply treclin gel regularly and following your healthcare provider's instructions are essential for the best results. Being an antibiotic for acne treatment can cause irritation or dryness for some individuals, but this usually settles once the skin adapts to the cure.
Treclin gel ingredients
Clindamycin and tretinoin are the active ingredients in treclin gel, which is particularly effective at reducing spots and treating symptoms such as redness.
It contains 10 mg (1%) of clindamycin (as clindamycin phosphate) and 0.25 mg (0.025%) of tretinoin per 1 g.
Besides clindamycin and tretinoin the other ingredients are purified water, glycerol, carbomers, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), disodium edetate, anhydrous citric acid, polysorbate 80 (E433), butyl hydroxytoluene (E321), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), and trometamol.

Dosage
Ensure that Treclin should be given as prescribed by your doctor. Treclin should not be applied more than a pea-sized amount and should be taken at the suggested dose at the usual time.
How to use Treclin gel?
- Before using the gel, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly to maintain hygiene and prevent contamination.
- Use warm water to wash your face with mild soap and pat it dry with a towel to get the desired effects of Treclin.
- Squeeze a pea-sized amount of gel onto the fingertip. Gently dab the gel on your forehead, chin, nose, and cheeks. Make sure Treclin is applied all over your face and spread evenly.
- Apply Treclin Gel once before bed, every night. Do not exceed the recommended amount or use it longer than prescribed, as overuse may cause skin irritation without improving results.
- Treclin should not be applied at the same time as other topical treatments, including cosmetics, as there is a chance of incompatibility.

Treclin warnings
Stop using Treclin as the treatment for acne if;
- You are pregnant or women of child-bearing age.
- You are allergic to clindamycin, tretinoin, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- You are allergic to lincomycin.
- You have a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. Crohn’sCrohn'se or ulcerative colitis).
- You have a history of colitis with past antibiotic use.
- You or a member of your family have ever had skin cancer.
- You suffer from acute eczema characterised by inflamed, red, dry and scaly skin.
- You are suffering from rosacea, a skin disease that affects the face.
- You are suffering from other acute inflammatory skin conditions (e.g. folliculitis).
