What is Mirvaso gel?
Mirvaso Gel is a prescription topical gel used to treat the redness associated with rosacea, a skin condition that causes visible blood vessels and flushing. It contains the active ingredient brimonidine, which belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha-agonists.
Mirvaso Gel is manufactured by Galderma and is available in a 30g tube.
How does Mirvaso gel work?
Mirvaso Gel contains brimonidine, which works by narrowing blood vessels under the skin. In rosacea, these vessels become enlarged, increasing blood flow and causing redness and flushing.
When applied, it reduces blood flow to the area by making the blood vessels smaller. This helps reduce redness and create a more even skin tone.
The effects can typically be seen within a few hours, providing temporary relief from symptoms of rosacea.
Alternative to Mirvaso
If Mirvaso isn’t the right treatment for you, there are other treatments for rosacea.
- Finacea Gel (Azelic acid): Reduces inflammation and redness, suitable for all skin types.
- Soolantra Cream (Ivermectin): Targets inflammation and reduces the number of rosacea-related bumps.
- Metrogel (Metronidazole): An antibiotic gel that helps reduce redness and inflammation.
