About Scheriproct

Scheriproct Ointment is a quick, easy and clinically-proven way to treat haemorrhoids. The two active ingredients of Scheriproct Ointment are cinchocaine hydrochloride and prednisolone hexanoate. Cinchocaine is a local anaesthetic, and it works by hampering the pain messages pathway located in the nerve fibres. This medicine relieves pain and itching. Prednisolone, on the other hand, is a corticosteroid and responsible for alleviating inflammation.

How effective is Scheriproct ointment?

Scheriproct Ointment is a useful product for relieving and treating internal and external piles.  A study published on Onlinelibrary.com cited that non-invasive treatments for haemorrhoids such as topical agents and suppositories are recommended as initial treatments for the condition, along with various anal and perianal diseases. This study indicated that local anaesthetics such as cincochaine and corticosteroids such as prednisolone (the active ingredients in Scheriproct Ointment) are effective for the symptomatic treatment of haemorrhoids.

How does Scheriproct ointment work?

This product contains two active ingredients, namely cinchocaine and prednisolone. Cinchocaine, a local anaesthetic, temporarily obstructs the nerve fibre pathway that sends pain messages. It delivers relief from pain and itching as it numbs the affected area. Prednisolone, on the other hand, is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, thereby alleviating the itching and swelling symptoms associated with haemorrhoids. This product is safe for use only by adults aged 18 years old and above. Its safety for use in infants and children has not been established.

Directions

How should I use Scheriproct ointment?

Wash your hands clean and dry before administering this product. Before applying for this medicine, you should also gently wash and dry the anal area, along with its surrounding skin.

If you’re using this product externally on the area surrounding the anus, squeeze about a pea size of the ointment at the top of your finger. Spread the ointment over the affected area and just in the inner portion of the anus. Do not rub the ointment inside the anus.

If you’re going to administer this medicine inside the anus, you should do so using the nozzle or applicator that goes with the product package.

Attach the nozzle or applicator into the tube.

Squeeze the product tube so that the nozzle becomes full of the ointment. All of the nozzle filled with this medicine comprises one dose.

Then insert the nozzle gently into the anus. The whole length of this applicator should be placed inside.

Squeeze the tube gently while at the same time withdrawing the nozzle.

Thoroughly wash the nozzle with hot and soapy water after applying the product. Rinse it carefully.

This ointment is generally applied two times a day. However, on the first day, it may be administered 3 or 4 times a day to obtain optimal relief.

Treatment using this product tends to be short-term, only for a duration of 5 to 7 days.

Don’t use this product if the expiry date has lapsed, or if its seal appears to have been tampered with upon purchase.

Store in a cool, dry place, away from heat and moisture.

Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.

How long do I use Scheriproct ointment for before I notice a difference?

This medicine is typically recommended for use twice a day- in the morning and in the evening after moving bowels. Your doctor might also prescribe using the ointment for 3 to 4 times a day on the first day of use. This way, optimal relief from haemorrhoid symptoms may be obtained. Treatment with this product is generally short term, lasting for 5 to 7 days.
